Bare Minerals Makeup Guide

By

The advent of mineral cosmetics started during the early 1990’s with Bare Minerals makeup, although it has gained popularity only recently as a lot of the well known make up companies have begun launching their own mineral make-up lines.  The use of mineral foundation makeup is advisable for women who have had skin treatments, as it contains trace minerals that can aid in the skin's healing process and can prevent irritations. It is also advisable for women with sensitive skin, as mineral foundations are in powdered form, which ultimately helps in limiting skin breakouts and avoiding skin allergies and irritations. And if you just love a youthful, natural look, natural mineral makeup may just be the perfect thing for you!

In this day and age when people are going back to being natural, we find a lot of organic products almost everywhere. The "natural" way of life ranges from food items, to cleansing agents, and now even to make-up and cosmetics. Even if mineral makeup is more pricey when compared to regular cosmetic products, a lot of women would still buy the stuff. This is because many women would always prefer to go by what would make them look and feel their best. It also helps that well-known celebrities are also endorsing Bare Essentials makeup and other lines, such as Sheer Cover.

Youngblood Cosmetics, founded by Pauline Youngblood-Soli in 1996, is a company that carries a complete line of mineral foundation makeup and complimentary products. Pauline had a severe case of cystic acne when she was a teenager, preventing her from using cosmetics, as they would be more harmful to her skin. She worked as a licensed medical aesthetician for dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons as an adult. Seeing all the skin treatments that women would undergo for the sake of beauty, as well as having had her acne experience in the past, she was inspired to work with chemists to come up with cosmetics that can be used to help during the healing process and would allow the skin to breathe. This collaboration brought about her line of organic makeup products.

As always, consumer demands would have different companies come up with better products that are effective and affordable. There are a lot of natural make-up companies having mineral powder products in their lines these days. From Bare Minerals Makeup to Jane Iredale, Pur Minerals, GloMinerals, J.Lynne Mineral Makeup, and even Avon and Maybelline carry their own lines of mineral cosmetics.

I was able to try the mineral cosmetics line by The Body Shop, personally. I have been a Body Shop user for some time, and when they came up with their mineral make-up products, I decided to give it a try even if I am really more of a powder and lipstick girl. Their line is certainly affordable when compared to other mineral powder makeup brands; although please note that I said affordable and not necessarily cheap. The Body Shop's formula is talc free, as talc has been linked to skin breakouts. I tried the mineral makeup foundation and the cheek color and I very am happy with the results. The foundation helped cover up minor skin imperfections such as redness and visible pores, and the cheek color is so easy to blend that it gives just the right amount of flush to my cheeks. I am really not a make-up person in general, but that has changed when I tried using natural mineral makeup. I think I would stick to using mineral foundation make-up and the cheek color for some time!
