Male Cosmetic Surgery

By

Male cosmetic surgery isn't stigmatized the way it used to be years ago. Many cosmetic surgery centers are seeing an increase in the number of men who undergo a wide variety of plastic surgery and body reshaping procedures. This trend is expected to rise dramatically within the next couple of years. Using medical advances and cutting edge technology to improve your appearance and figure isn't just for women anymore. Society now recognizes that male plastic surgery can be just as beneficial to a man's self esteem and confidence, as well as potentially enhance his quality of life, just as it has often done for women.  Typical male cosmetic surgery procedures include everything from a male tummy tuck to liposuction for men.

Why the increase in male cosmetic surgery? Like women, men take pride in their appearance and may be self conscious to some degree. No one wants to look old before their time. For many men, the decision to have male plastic surgery is very personal. It may make them feel better about themselves and has to potential to positively affects their self image.

One of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures on the rise is liposuction for men. Liposuction is a great way to remove stubborn pockets of fat from the body, where diet and exercise alone doesn't seem to help. Traditionally, women are more likely to have liposuction in the abdominal and hip regions. Liposuction for men is more likely to occur in other parts of the body. One of these regions are referred to as "love handles", and it's proven to be a popular place for men to use liposuction. Most often, men site the area of the lower back and their abdomen as being of the most concern.

Male cosmetic surgery isn't just for the athletes or celebrities, but also the Average Joe. There are several cosmetic procedures available for men. Some of these may be solely cosmetic, while some may be for reconstructive purposes. Common male plastic surgery procedures include scar and tattoo removal, rhinoplasty (more commonly known as nose jobs), botox injections, and hair transplants. These are just a few of the many cosmetic procedures that thousands of men will have this year.

Men generally have the same concerns regarding plastic surgery as women do. Concerns about the safety of the procedure, the cost, healing time, and scarring will often come up during the initial consultation with the plastic surgeon. Many will also want to know if others will be able to tell if they've had a procedure, since male plastic surgery is still sometimes considered unusual and perhaps a bit feminine or "metro sexual".

There are numerous benefits to having plastic surgery. Looking and feeling better about yourself is one of the most important. This is why so many individuals are now experiencing the positive benefits of having male cosmetic surgery. Caring about appearance has nothing to do with whether or not the individual is male or female. Sometimes being able to improve your self-esteem and self-confidence is worth a little extra cost. It's not just for the ladies anymore!
